The Château des Charmes Story

Recent Accolades

2017 Gamay Noir ‘Droit’, St. David’s Bench Vineyard
“Based on a spontaneous mutation of the red Beaujolais grape and isolated in the early 1980’s by winery founder Paul Bosc Sr., this is just as serious as it is happy. Light and crisp, yet smoothly polished, it’s perfectly ripe and cherry-like as well as subtly smoky and spicy.”

2016 Pinot Noir, Paul Bosc Estate Vineyard
“The Paul Bosc Vineyard has always delivers a satisfying Pinot experience. Such a gorgeous nose of wild raspberries, summer cherries, bramble and integrated spice and minerality. It’s rich on the palate, with fine-grained tannins that yield a range of field strawberries, raspberries, beetroot, underlying earthiness and spice. Lovely textbook Niagara Pinot.”

“A conspiratorial perfect storm has gathered to lift cabernet franc from St. David’s Bench out of the 2016 vintage for to fall into a right place. The warmth from location and vintage is more than evident as noted by florals, full fruit compliment and a body to match. It’s a big one to be sure but also balanced, if a bit chalky at present, which will soon liquify, liquidate and blend into the scenery.”
